The largest nations in the world are Russia and Canada, but the United States isn’t far behind them.

With our nation being so large and spread out, the weather patterns aren’t the same in every part of the country. With each region experiencing different types of weather patterns, they also experience different weather threats.

The spring season is right around the corner, and you need to be prepared for what is to come when the warm and cold air masses collide. For instance here in Poughkeepsie, we are still experiencing cool wintry weather and likely will be for a while. Read on to learn more.

In the Pacific Northwest region, they are dealing with wet weather and heavy rains, which can lead to flooding or other water damage. In certain areas with higher elevations, they have wet weather as well, but it’s likely coming from melting snow or ice, which can obviously present problems of its own.

The Upper Midwest and Northeast regions are dealing with winter weather, and will continue to do so until late spring or early summer. When we say winter weather, we are talking snowstorms and blizzards, which are still happening during spring. This is the weather we’re familiar with!

People who live in the West Coast aren’t having to worry with blizzards, but rather they are dealing with excessive heat waves. These heat waves can endanger lives.

Moving on to the middle area of the United States, from Iowa to Texas, residents are dealing with dry, windy weather! They are seeing things like windstorms, derechos and wildfires, all of which are extremely dangerous. This area also contains something known as Tornado Alley.

The Southeast region is the last area, and they experience everything from severe thunderstorms to tornadoes. Southern states along the coast also need to watch for rip currents and the potential of early-season hurricanes.

As you can see, no matter what region you live in, there will always be some weather hazard that you need to prepare for. Weather is unpredictable and no matter the season, there will always be some type of hazard or risk. Make sure you stay alert, aware and prepared at all times.

If extreme weather leaves you with damage from water, fire or other elements, help is a click away. Contact SERVPRO for fast, expert recovery.
